Directly in the town of Trenčín, there is the Trenčín Castle, which is a well-known attraction. In the wider area, there is the Beckov Castle, Čachtice Castle and the Vršatec Castle ruins. In Podolie – The Miniatures Park, you can see numerous, more than 70, miniatures of castles and mansions from all around Slovakia.
Families with children will surely be interested in Minifarm Lubina and Farm Uhliská, where the kids can get to know the animals, ride a horse, feed the animals as well as have a taste of the farmer’s products made directly from the farmyards.
The ancient churches in Haluzice and Pominovec, as well as the nearby monastery at Veľká Skalka have a unique magic.

Traditional events in Trenčín

The most significant event in Trenčín is the popular and traditional POHODA festival, taking place in early July on the Trenčín airport. The season of cultural and social events in Trenčín is opened by the Trenčín Majáles (Spring Celebration), which is connected with traditional erecting of the maypole and celebrations in Mierové Square. During the summer months, the renovated Trenčín square is full of events every single weekend!
The summer in Trenčín starts with an open-air night event Stories from Trenčín. The event introduces the stories from the town’s history in a modern and artistic way. During the summer months, every Friday belongs to the musical picnics, every Sunday to afternoon concerts and kids theatre in the square. Autumn belongs to the folklore festival Pri Trenčianskej bráne (At the Trenčín Gate), which is connected with introduction of traditional arts and crafts and market.

Trenčianske Teplice

Trenčianske Teplice lies in the valley of the stream Teplička at the foot of Strážovské vrchy mountains nearby Trenčín. The town lies on the rich hot water springs, known to people at the beginning of the Christian era.
Trenčianske Teplice as the spa town were already recorded in the 13th century. The first record of the hot springs comes from 1247. In the 19th and early 20th century, the spa was one of the most significant in Austria-Hungary. The most famous historical monument of the town is the Hammam spa, a unique structure built in 1888 in an original Moorish style.
There is a unique forest park founded in 1873. The park is decorated by a Swan Lake with a small island in the middle. From the spa park, you can continue walking along the nature trail with a small Jánošík’s cave, to the Klepáč peak with a panoramic telescope.
Apart from spa facilities, Trenčianske Teplice offers an international film festival and the bridge of fame with plates of famous personalities.
Trenčianske Teplice are well known for the spring with a thermal drinking water rich in minerals, a swimming resort built directly in the rock wall or the oldest musical festival of chamber music in Central Europe.
